An Amazing Month for Betrayal - Thanks to you!

It has been 30 days since Betrayal's release and what an incredible month it has been! Total copies sold in ebooks and paperbacks combined is...drumroll please... 394 copies -YAY!!! I owe it all to you, the readers and book bloggers for spreading the word. Your support and reviews have been WONDERFUL and have left me speechless. I'm thrilled beyond words that you have enjoyed Betrayal. I'm that much more eager to get the second book in the Descendants series, Sacrifice written. I have enjoyed all the feedback and want nothing more than to continue writing The Descendants series.
I would appreciate it if you purchase or have already purchased a copy of Betrayal to leave an honest review where you made the purchase, whether it be Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or Smashwords, as well as the reading communities which you enjoy, Goodreads, Shelfari.
Thank you all so much for your kind words, love, and support!!

It's the final 24 hours before the winner of the 2 signed copies of Betrayal is announced. Finally!!! Good Luck to all who have entered!!!

Oh and yes I watched the Royal Wedding. I was up at 6am eastern time and watched in bits in pieces as I got my boys ready for school. I marveled at some of those fantastically fancy hats. Those English gals are a gutsy bunch and their hat designers have quite an imagination.
I think I enjoyed the wedding mostly because I enjoyed watching the sweet interaction between Prince William and Princess Kate. I will not pretend to know what's in their hearts and minds but those two sure looked genuinely happy to be marrying each other.

Refusing to Mourn

I refuse to mourn the departure of Aidan Turner A.K.A.  John 'Mitchell' on Being Human on BBC, my second favorite vamp/ werewolf / ghost show to True Blood. It's such an amazing show with intelligent writing and a great cast. If you're not watching, you should be. But you'll have to get caught up and rent season 1, 2, & 3 which just wrapped up.
MY gripe: I understand why George had to do what he had to do, BUT the writers of Being Human ( I trust you Toby Whithouse) had better find a way to write Mitchel back into the story line. Period.

                                                                     Mitchell is sooo HOT

even with fangs

He is one of the best assets of the show, if not the best. The rest of the cast is pretty dynamic too. I really like George and Annie, but not so much Nina, but come on really he's the star of the show (in my opinion). My TV actually steams up when Aidan (obviously he and I are on a first name basis) graces the screen. He's like the hottest vampire on TV (Sorry Bill of TB  - you ain't got nothin' on Mitchell, and Eric is a close second and that's only because he's so badd ass). I wait patiently for season 4. The show's been damn awesome so far so I know Toby Whithouse won't let me down.

George (quirky but ferocious werewol)    Gorgeous Mitchell (vampire)     Annie (meddling but thoughtful ghost)

Ok now to answer a few questions from some readers about Betrayal and some random inquiries:

Where is Nickel City, Nevada? I can't find it on a map.
Nickel City is a fictitious city I planted in Nevada.

Is Bucket o' Blood a real saloon?
Bucket O' Blood is a fictitious saloon in the fictitious city - Nickel City

How long did it take you to write Betrayal?
It took roughly about four months to write Betrayal, and about a year and a half to edit it.

Why did you write about Greek gods and goddesses?
I wrote about Greek gods because I enjoy anything to do with Greek myth and I know that I'm not alone on that one.

What kind of music did you listen to if you listened to anything while writing your book?
I listened to - the group Mono, Duffy, Tears for Fears, the soundtrack to Troy, and all the tracks on the Betrayal soundtrack (yeah Betrayal has it's own soundtrack - cool huh?), and many more but now it's all a noisy blur.

Is there a sequel to Betrayal? When will the sequel to Betrayal come out? Are you working on any other books?
Yes there is a sequel. It's titled Sacrifice and will be out sometime in December 2011. I am working on a few other things as well. Book three in the Descendants series - currently untitled and another series with a dystopian setting which will debut in the summer of 2012, and a third historical series - but can't talk about that yet. but I'll keep you posted.

Who designed your book cover?
My good friend Samantha Oyola contact: soyola100@gmail.com

Ok I think that covers it for now :).
My Sunday nights

Sunday night is my night of uninteruppted television. Last night's line up was AMAZING!:

1. Game of Thrones - what can I say but WOW!  I loved the story line so far and the shocking ending of the premiere episode - incest (ugh!!!) and murder! OMG.  G.O.T. literally takes you into the world of ancient kingdoms and the costume design is fantastic. I can't wait for episode 2. Now I have to buy the book!

2. The Killing - I've been watching this new series on AMC since it first aired two weeks ago and it's kept me at the edge of my seat and on my toes. the investigation of a murdered teenage girl in the most heinous way is disturbing but the investigation and twist and turns are gripping. I am a true fan of SVU so this series perked my interest from the get go.

3. The Borgias - After reading the Borgia Betrayal by Sara Poole, which I won on Goodreads, I knew that I had to watch this new series on Showtime. I love period and historical dramas so this is definatly my cup of tea.The Borgia family is corrupt and scadalous. The Phenomenal Jeremy Irons is just that... PHENOMENAL! Actually the entire cast is awesome and so far I've watched three episodes and I am shocked every sunday night at what this family got away with in the late 1490's.

**Oh and another show that I'm consumed with and have been watching for a while now is Being Human on BBC -America. A hot vampire, a quirky werewolf, and a selfless ghost co-exist in an apartment and try as hard as hell to be human. Its edgy, funny, and down right addictive. (airs Saturday nights)

A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

I tried to go into work today, but my boss told me to stay home - fearing an outbreak of strep. Could I blame her? Certainly not. It's day six and I've had enough of it already. I can't concentrate too long on anything or task because my mind always goes back to the pain in my throat. But really everybody, or whoever reads this, if anyone reads my blog, that's really not what I wanted to write about today. It's just what was on my mind at the moment. Sorry to bore you with it.

On with more interesting things. The giveway is still underway so enter while the winning is good (2 signed copies - I know I'm just an indie author but maybe someday my Johnny Hancock will be worth something).Trust me, it's a good read - some have said a GREAT read (thanks! you know who you are).

Oh and THANKS!!! to ALL who've already purchased a copy of Betrayal either in ebook or paperback. I appreciate your support and for those who've left reviews, thank you immensly for the kind words and spreading the word. And please keep spreading the word! Spread it wherever you purchased and wherever you chat about books. I know I like hearing about a good book.

I've gotten some feed back about the length (that's it's well... lengthy) although everyone still thought it was quite a satisfying read. I think that is what's most important. Thank you for appreciating the story and the fact that it's a bit of a saga yet it moves along smoothly. When I first started writing Betrayal, I wanted Cordelia's world as visual and as tangible to the reader as possible. I hope that as readers you can imagine all that is happening and feel like you are there in the thick of it with the characters. It is really what my goal is as a writer and has been since I've decided to tell the story of the descendants.

And please everyone, anyone who reads Betrayal, please feel free to leave me a comment if you want or email me if you have anything you want to share about the story. I promise to answer your questions as soon as I can. I am really beyond happy to hear all your thoughts!

To answer a few emails /questions - Yes the Blog Tour spots are filling up but I'm thinking to extend it another week or so into June maybe, so if anyone has a review blog and would still like to get s free copy of Betrayal to read and review just sign up here.

And onto a sad note - I can't believe that ABC is cancelling All My Children and One Life to Live?????  I remember running home from school to catch up on these soaps every day. I mean my mom and my older sister practically lived off of the drama of Erika Kane and all her husbands. I guess reality TV has toppled the soaps too.

Ok and one more thing... I have to admit it because I hear it's the first step in ovecoming it. I'm becoming addicted to watching TMZ (I blame Charlie Sheen) and sneaking to watch Jersey Shore (which I had at first been DEAD against when it first started airing. And now I can't get enough of the fights, 't-shirt time' and catty hair pulling.) Wow...that kinda worked. I feel so much better getting that off my chest, yet I'll still keep scheming to watch.

I forgot to mention

I've been sick with the worst flu / sore throat I've had in ages this past weekend and it's dragged into my work week. No, that's not what I forgot to mention, it's mostly why I didn't mention some of the cool things that have been happening. I forgot to mention that some awesome blog sites have interviewed me.

E.J. Stevens, the dark poet and amazing author or the Spirit Guide, did a guest author interview with me which she posted on April 11th. Also, This one had nothing to do with me being sick. I just totally forget things sometimes. Forgive me! I totally forgot to mention an interview and giveaway (sorry it's already over) done by Tania at Literary Cravings. Tania was also nice enough to read and review my novel and posted it over this past weekend. It was a good review, meaning she enjoyed Betrayal.
Meghann at Absconditas interviewed me and is hosting a giveaway of a signed paperback copy of Betrayal on her blog so definitly check those out.

Betrayal Giveaway

BETRAYAL IS ON TOUR!!!
Sign up to read and review Betrayal
I'm so thrilled to host a blog tour for my first book, Betrayal. A few bloggers have already read and reviewed Betrayal and posted great reviews, with so many more bloggers eager to review it. So a blogger suggested doing a blog tour. I wasn't sure what that consisted of, so I did a little research and found that it could actually be fun.
Readers want to know a little about a book before investing their precious time so they trust pro-readers a.k.a. book bloggers to inform them of a good read. I figured what better way to introduce Betrayal to more readers.

Betrayal Blog Tour

I'd like to thank all the book bloggers who have featured Betrayal's release and those who have reviewed it (thank you so much for all the undue praise!!!). The precious time these dedicated bloggers spend reviewing books and spreading the word about indie authors is nothing short of amazing. I cherish you all!
Since there has been quite a bit of interest in Betrayal throughout the blogosphere from book bloggers who read YA paranormal - romance and / or historical fantasy, I will be hosting a blog tour for Betrayal very soon. I hope to have all the specifics ironed out by the end of the week (fingers crossed) to post.

I've added a page to this blog for Betrayal's reviews, which I've taken from goodreads.com from readers who reviewed prior to the release, so check that out.
Oh and if you have a minute check the Images page - just pics I thought that worked well with the story.

SHOUT OUT

I just have to give a SHOUT OUT to all the readers who have purchased Betrayal and are posting such awesome reviews and emailing me. I'm so happy that you've enjoyed the story. I've received a lot of emails and comments with praise on my writing and I don't know what to say. I dont think of myself as a great writer, not by a long shot, but I 'm so elated that you all do. I'm sorry if I haven't answered your email or comments on this blog. I'm so busy being a mom of two, so my weekends are chaotic, and my night are dedicated to writing. Here are the answers to some of your questions:
*The deal with the paperback: To my horror, Amazon  printed the interior of my book slightly slanted so they are currently correcting the production problem and Betrayal should be back up for sale soon. I will post when it finally becomes available.
*Yes the GIVEAWAY is for two books to one winner who will generously give one signed copy to a friend.
*YES I am working hard on the second book, titiled Sacrifice. I hope to have it out by December 2011. The Descendants is a trilogy.
*If you would like to review a copy of my book, interview me, host a giveaway, or add Betrayal to a blog tour please contact me first.
*For those who want to know how I self-published:
I published with createspace for paperback - sold through Amazon and several other distribution channels, Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) for Kindle ebooks. I also published with pubit! - ebooks published by Barnes and Nobles, and Smashwords.com in ebook
*Yes Betrayal is available on AmazonUK in ebook only.
*YES I now have a Twitter account, clickthe little bird on the right & follow me & enjoy the chaos ------->
*No I've never tried the traditional publishing route. I've never queried an agent, not once. I decided to self publish so that I could maintain control of my project from beginning to end. I love to write and my new readers!
*It took a couple months to write Betrayal, but a little over a year to edit it. I enjoy writing way more than the editing.
*I would really love to read and review books, but I really lack the time (two little boys who love getting into mischief, 9 to 5 job, getting dinner ready on time, writing, etc.) plus I don't like to critique so the answer is no to reviewing another author's work, but I wish you the best.
*I worked really hard on the ending of Betrayal and thought it was satisfying. If you really want to know what happeneds to the characters, you'll have to read Sacrifice.
*The cover of Betrayal was designed by the talented Samantha Oyola
I think that's everything, but if I missed something just send me an email or post a comment here.
