The awesome book I'm reading right now...

Like I've stated in the past, I don't really write reviews on books, but I'm almost finished with an amazing novel (that I know I'll be reading again) and had to speak out about it and the brilliant author.

Kenya Wright is an exceptionally talented new indie author who befriended me on Goodreads. Thank you Kenya or I might not have found her book Fire Baptized (awesome cover, right?) and missed out. Kenya's novel is a unique mix of urban fantasy, romance, mystery and paranormal.
It's about a Mixbreed named Lanore - a real kick-ass kind of girl that can produce and control fire. She is forced to live locked away in caged cities called the Habitat with the rest of the supernaturals. Kenya brings us a fresh and creative twist on supernaturals. The world she has created is grim, gritty and fascinating. As I keep reading I am shocked by the turn of events. The characters are original and I can't decide which of the two guys in the story I love most!

Here's the blurp:

Since the 1970s humans have forced supernaturals to live in caged cities. Silver brands embedded in their foreheads identify them by species: a full moon for Vampires, a crescent moon for Shifters, a pair of wings for Fairies, and the list goes on, for each supernatural species has been tagged and categorized by humans.
Lanore Vesta is marked with a silver X, the brand of Mixbreeds, second-class citizens shunned by society. She stays to herself, revealing her ability to create fire only during emergencies. All she wants to do is graduate college and stop having to steal to survive. But when she stumbles upon a murder in progress, she catches the attention of a supernatural killer. Now all she wants is to stop finding dead bodies in her apartment.
Enlisting help from her Were-cheetah ex-boyfriend MeShack and a new mysterious friend named Zulu, she is steered through the habitat’s raunchy nightlife. But their presence sometimes proves to be more burden than help, as they fight for her attention.
While the corpses pile up, and the scent of blood fills the air, Lanore is left wondering: will she find the psycho or die trying?

Fire Baptized is the first installment and what I believe to be a great start to the Habitat series. I'm loving the story so far and just wanted to share it with everyone. You should definitely check it out and add to your TBR piles. It's available right now on Amazon for $.99!!
